Foster carers across the East Midlands decided to go to Conkers for their annual Christmas day out. It was a new choice in terms of foster carer events and it didn’t disappoint!
There’s lots of things to do both indoors and outdoors throughout the year at Conkers in Derbyshire. At Christmas it becomes a Winter Wonderland. Upon arrival, our staff team, carers and children were led away by elves through the enchanted forest and the valley of Christmas lights to Santa’s woodland grotto.
The group saw reindeer and the adults settled for mince pies and mulled wine whilst the children lined up to meet Santa in his grotto.
Some decided to take a trip on the Santa Special through the runner of Discovery and others were just in time to meet the balloon modeller and watch the street entertainers.
Dave Needle, Senior Practitioner, said:
“It really went down well with children, young people and carers. We had a great turnout and we’re definitely going to plan something like this again next year.”
What our carers say
“Just wanted to say thank you for arranging the winter wonderland trip it was very good. Both ourselves and the boys thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you.”
