It was a cold start to a lovely day as children and staff from the Bristol office piled onto the coach destined for the City. London was, unsurprisingly, crowded with tourists and Christmas shoppers looking for that special present.
Chatting at the rear of the coach, we established the various plans for the day. A couple of die-hard shoppers were off to Oxford street, whilst others walked along the river to climb onboard the HMS Belfast. A carer and her foster daughter took off for London Zoo and amazingly squeezed in a visit to ‘Ripley’s Believe it or Not!’ discovering shrunken heads and cosmic mysteries! Many of us found a tasty bite for lunch or an early tea in one of the thousands of eateries. Some brave souls risked the ‘London Bridge Experience’ whilst others took in the sounds, sights, smells, and tastes of the Christmas and food markets, and street entertainment on the walkway of the South Bank.
Despite tales of a friend turning up late and food following the same pattern – a great time was had by one and all! The journey back was graced by a challenging quiz – courtesy of Nicky’s sourcing and Mick’s comparing skills with the winners – Michelle and her daughter Emily – gaining a box of chocolates to add to their Christmas indulgences!
